It was another action-packed Saturday of cricket at Rayleigh CC, where the club’s depth ultimately ensured a winning return of four victories from seven matches. The standout achievement of the weekend belonged to the 1st XI, who successfully defended 208 against Beaulieu Park in a low scoring match, helping them return to top of division one. Despite frustrating losses for the 2s, 3s, and 4s, the 5th, 6th, and 7th XIs rose to the occasion, delivering a string of dominant, high-scoring performances to cap off a crucial weekend.
Kitchen Renovation: Update
If you’ve been by the Club this week, you’ve likely noticed that our kitchen renovation is officially underway! This is a major project that we committed to tackling during this year’s AGM. A huge thank you to Ben Francis, Dave Turner, and everyone else who pitched in to strip out the old kitchen units. Unfortunately, the teardown uncovered some hidden water damage to the underflooring. Thankfully, Trevor “Chief Chippy” Nunn stepped up to save the day and we’ve already installed a brand-new underfloor.
The new kitchen arrived this week and is in the process of being fitted. Please note: We expect some continued disruption over the next few weeks as the project wraps up. Thank you all for your patience and support as we upgrade our Club facilities.
This Week at the club
It’s another busy week at the Club, with 15 fixtures in the book.
Owing to strong availability, the Club has already scheduled a 7th XI friendly match for this coming Saturday – with all league teams pushing for wins in their respective divisions.
Player of the Week
There were some exceptional performances from the across the Club last week, but Benny Mahoney stole the show (for a second time this year) and picks up the K9ology Player of the Week award.
Striking 78 runs in just 43 balls, Benny top scored for the 5th XI and helped secure a comfortable 100+ run win against Hutton last Saturday.
