Since 1902
The home of cricket in Rayleigh for over a century
Rayleigh Cricket Club has been at the heart of the local community since 1902. We play at Rawreth Lane, just outside Rayleigh, and are the largest cricket club in the area.
We field more than fifteen teams, including six Saturday league sides, a thriving youth section and a women’s section. Over 100 boys and girls play at Rawreth Lane, and whatever your age or ability, there is a team here for you.

The 1st XI lifted the Premier Division trophy, the top honour in the Mid Essex League.

1902 to 1952
The early years
- 1902 The club is founded as Rayleigh & District CC
- 1939 to 1945 Play stops during the Second World War
- 1952 Renamed Rayleigh Cricket Club
1960 to 1983
Into league cricket
- 1960 Sunday XI formed
- 1974 The club joins the Essex Senior Cricket League
- 1978 Youth cricket starts at the club
- 1983 The club enters the Mid Essex Cricket League
1995 to 2009
Growing the club
- 1995 Saturday 4th XI formed
- 2000 Saturday 5th XI formed
- 2002 The club celebrates its centenary
- 2004 The New Ground project is completed
- 2007 6th XI formed and first fixture played
- 2009 7th XI and Women’s XI formed
2012 to today
Recent years
- 2012 Every Saturday league team promoted in the same season
- 2013 6th XI enter the Mid Essex League
- 2021 1st XI win the Mid Essex League Premier Division
Our ground
Rawreth Lane
Our home ground sits just outside Rayleigh. The New Ground project was completed in 2004, and visitors are always welcome on match days.
