Rayleigh CC Round Up:
February 2026 Edition

It’s been a busy few months since our last update, with the committee working hard behind the scenes to ensure the Club hits the ground running for the upcoming season.

Sadly, we do not have only good news to share.

Remembering John Mayfield

We are deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of John Mayfield. John was a steadfast and much-loved presence at the Club and could usually be found on the boundary alongside Janet, cheering on Aaron, Calum, Katrina and Mike. His familiar face and unwavering support for the Club will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

The Club’s thoughts, and sincere condolences, are with the Mayfield family at this difficult time.

The family will be holding a gathering at the Cricket Club from midday on Wednesday 25th February. All club members who would like to attend are very welcome.

You can also visit John’s online tribute. Any donations made online will go to the Southend branch of the RNLI, where John volunteered in the shop for over 20 years — a cause that meant a great deal to him.
