Two wins and four defeats for Rayleigh Cricket Club’s six Saturday League sides.
T Rippon Mid Essex Premier Division. Local rivals Rettendon were the visitors to the 1st XI and batting first were bowled out for 122, Ian Turnbull (4-25) and Matt Gilmore (3-26) the pick of the bowlers. Rayleigh passed this target for the loss of 5 wickets with the runs shared out between the batsmen.
T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 2. The 2nd XI travelled to Great Waltham 1st XI who batted first and totalled 227-6. Rayleigh were bowled out for 172 only Chris Frost (80) mastering the bowling.
T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 5. The 3rd XI hosted Sandon Sports who batted first and scored 233-5. In reply Rayleigh were bowled out for 179, Tony Catling (38) and Richard Verrinder (28) top scoring.
T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 7. The 4th XI went to Ongar and were bowled out for 84, Matt Walker (25). The hosts passed this score for the loss of two wickets.
T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 10. The 5th XI travelled to Great Totham 3rd XI. Batting first Rayleigh totalled 175-8, Phil Hammond (41) and Duncan Bond (34) top scoring The hosts were bowled out for 163, Mark Stratton (4-51) and Paul Burgess (3-31), to give the 5th XI victory by 12 runs.
T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 11. The 6th XI hosted Rayleigh Fairview 3rd XI and electing to bat first started brightly scoring 41 off the first 7 overs but a mid-order collapse followed and an early finish looked in prospect but an excellent innings by William Wheeler (47) with some dogged support from the tail enders took the score to 131 all out. This was never going to be enough against an experienced opposition who passed the target with the loss of three wickets all off the bowling of Elliot Ward
Beaumont Seymour Ladies League. Maldon were due to visit the Women and Girls XI but conceded the game without playing.
Under 13 Bradford Cup 2nd round. Rayleigh Eagles batting first scored 125-5 off their 20 overs, Alex Hernandez (32 retired), Matt Bumpus (29) and Adam Sullivan (29) leading the scoring. I reply Westcliff scored 105-5 the wickets being shared around.
