Two wins and four losses for the six Saturday League sides.and defeat for the Women & Girls XI in their League final.
T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 1. Third placed 1st XI entertained top of the table Rettendon 1st XI and were invited to bat. Ben Francis (81) and Andy Impey (43) shared a partnership of 108 for the first wicket with Rhys Howard (25), George Barker (25), Matt Jahanfar and Sam Verrinder keeping the score moving to reach a total of 262 all out in the 45th over. At 85 without loss after 11 overs the visitors looked on course for an easy victory but an accurate spell of bowling by Ian Bryant (5-32 off his 10 overs) changed the course of the game and Rettendon were bowled out for 197. This result lifts the 1st XI into second place in the table with a key game against Brookweald 1st XI next Saturday in the chase for promotion to the Premier Division.
T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 2. The 2nd XI visited Writtle 1st XI who batted first and scored 195-8, Kelly Castle taking 4-32. Adam Dudmish (51) and Kelly Castle (34) led the reply but the 2nd XI fell short of their target by 17 runs. The 6 points picked up in the game ensure the side will remain in Division 2 next year.  Â
T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 5. The 3rd XI hosted St John’s Billericay 1st XI in a game both sides needed to win to avoid potentially dropping into the relegation zone. Rayleigh batted first and at 102-5 off 30 overs looked unlikely to set a competitive target. However some powerful hitting by Alex Jones (99) took the home side’s score to 234-7. Disappointingly this score was not enough and Billericay passed their target for the loss of 7 wickets leaving the 3rd XI perilously close to the relegation zone with games against the top two sides in the Division remaining.
T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 8. The 4th XI visited Willow Herbs 2nd XI who batted first and were bowled out for 114, Liam Harrold taking 3-15. Steve Gosling (42) and Owen Davies (34) helped steer the 4th XI to a 6 wicket victory.
T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 10.  The 5th XI travelled to Rayne 2nd XI and batting first scored 138-8, Tom Peppiatt (25), Ian King (24) and Glenn Coleman (22) top scoring. The home side passed for the target with the loss of two wickets.
T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 12. The 6th XI were due to play South Woodham Ferrers 3rd XI but with 53 players unavailable for a variety of reasons, disappointingly the Club was unable to fulfil a League fixture for the first time ever.
The Women & Girls XI travelled to Lawford Lane, Chelmsford to play Colchester in the final of the Beaumont Seymour League and batting first lost 3 early wickets and struggled to a score of 69-7 in their 20 overs, Sophie Lennox (18) top scoring. Colchester passed this target in the 11th over for the loss of 2 wickets. Nevertheless it was an excellent achievement to reach the final.

The cricket week was quite badly affected by the weather losing the Thursday game altogether and Friday’s game being curtailed to a 20:20. The Club lost quite heavily to a young Galleywood XI on the Tuesday but had a good win on the Wednesday against Old Victorians with George Barker scoring a century. On Sunday the President’s XI scored 208-8, President Brad walker scoring 48 and Richard Mantell taking 3-32. Batting second the Club XI fell short by 4 runs on 204-8 in the last over with both Jon cook and Steve Gosling retiring on 50. Thanks to Brad and Sue for organising the whole week and to Ken Field for allowing the club access to his swimming pool during the weekend.
