Report of week ending 31st August

Two wins and four defeats for the Saturday League sides with the 5th XI topping Division 11. The Under 11As win their semi-final.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 1. The 1st XI entertained high flying Burnham Sports 1st XI, who batted first and scored 208 all out, Richard Abley taking 3-51. Rayleigh never looked likely to reach their target only Rhys Howard (26) troubling the visitor\’s attack and they were bowled out for 98. This result means the 1st XI finish 4th in the table.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 3. The 2nd XI visited Broomfield 1st XI who batted first scored 132, with Adam Dudmish taking 5-36 and Josh Jones 4-28. James Ellis (22) gave the 2nd XI a good start but a mid order collapse looked as though they would lose the match. However the tail wagged led by Max Jones (19*) to give Rayleigh a win by 2 wickets. The 2nd XI finish 3rd in the table.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 5. The 3rd XI travelled to Great Waltham 2nd XI and batting first were bowled for 196, Steve Gosling (50) top scoring. In a close finish the hosts passed this score with 2 wickets remaining. The 3rd XI finish 6th.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 8. The 4th XI entertained second in the table Rainham 2nd XI ,who batting first scored 231-7. In reply the 4th XI scored 173-6, Brad Walker (39) and Steve Rothon (38). The 4th XI finish 6th in the table.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 11. Great Totham 3rd XI were the visitors to the 5th XI,who batted first and scored 236-9, Rob Wilson (90) and Tony Catling (43) top scoring. The visitors were bowled out for 134, Tony Catling taking 4-20 and Sam Martin 3-12. This win confirmed them as Champions of the Division and promotion to Division 10.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 12. The 6th XI visited Great Baddow 4th XI . The 6th XI batted first and were always struggling against an accurate bowling attack and were all out for 108, which total the hosts passed for the loss of 1 wicket. The 6th XI finish 6th.

Southe Essex District Cricket Board Under 11 semi-final. Belhus Under 11A, who topped the West section League entertained Rayleigh Under 11A, who were runners up in the East section. Belhus batted first and totalled 289-5 net score 264. In a very close finish Rayleigh scored 291-5 net 268 to win by 4 runs, Matthew Bumpus scoring 25.
