A disappointing start to the League season with all six Saturday League sides losing. The only consolation was a win for the Women & Girls XI.
T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 1. The 1st XI travelled to newcomers to the league Goresbrook 1st XI who batted first and scored 200-7, Mike Walsh taking 3-47. In reply Rayleigh were bowled out for 85, only Ben Francis (25) troubling the bowlers.
T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 3. The 2nd XI hosted Great Baddow 2nd XI and batting first totalled 201, James Ellis (74) leading the scoring. The visitors passed this score for the loss of 3 wickets, Sam Verrinder taking 2-31.
T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 5. Rayne 1st XI visited The 3rd XI who batted first and scored 192-8, Alex Jones scoring 70. In reply the visitors scored 193-5 to win by 5 wickets.
T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 8. The 4th XI visited Terling 2nd XI and batting first were bowled out for 99, Rebecca Holyoak (23) top scoring. Terling passed this total for the loss of three wickets, Richard Mantell taking 2-20.
T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 11. The 5th XI went to Bentley 4th XI who batted first and were bowled out for 104, Tony Catling taking 4-16 off 12 overs, Owen Davies 3-17 and David Hall 3-30. Some tight bowling and excellent fielding restricted the visitors to an all out total of 76, Tony Catling (23) top scoring.
T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 12. The 6th XI played Rainham 3rd XI at Rawreth Lane, The visitors were invited to bat and totalled 231-7, Liam Harrold taking 3-23 and G Gough (109) scoring a maiden century. Rob Wilson (31) in his first game for 11 years led a spirited reply but after he was out the team collapsed to an all out total of 114.
Beaumont Seymour League South Division. The Women & Girls XI hosted Old Chelmsfordians and bowled the visitors out for 63. The home side survived a mid innings collapse to a hat trick and won by 4 wickets with 7 overs to spare.
