Springfield 1st XI came to Rawreth Lane to play the 1st XI and winning the toss asked the home side to bat on a pitch still damp from overnight rain. Rayleigh battled to 199-7 in their 45 overs and with the visitors 120-4 after 20 overs this score did not look enough. However the visitors collapsed to 169 all out, Jon Cook taking 4 wickets, to give the team their second win of the season and a slim chance of avoiding relegation.
The 2nd XI travelled to Springfield 3rd XI and batting first amassed 311-7, Chris Frost (85) and Steve Adams (78) leading the scoring. They then bowled the hosts out for 148, Matt Gilmore taking 4-40 to remain top of the table.
The 3rd XI entertained Roxwell Blues and batting first were all out for 102, only Tony Catling (44) troubling the bowlers. Roxwell passed this score for the loss of 4 wickets.
The 4th XI visited Wickham who batted first and scored 206-7 a score which which Rayleigh passed for the loss of 7 wickets, Hugh Kirby (36) and Nathan Healey (33) leading the reply.
The 5th XI played South Woodham Ferrers 3rd XI and met a returning university student who scored an unbeaten 137 out of an all out total of 226. In reply Rayleigh were all out for 101, Tom Godfrey (30) top scoring.
The 6th XI entertained Brentwood 6th XI who batted first and scored 149-7 in their 40 overs, David Cox taking 3-41 and Sam Martin 2-23. Tight bowling from a very young opposition saw Rayleigh fall behind the required scoring rate but an unbeaten 4th wicket stand of 110 between John Attfield (57*) and Alan Brown (29*) saw Rayleigh home in the 38th over.
Touring side Wisbech came to Rawreth Lane on Tuesday and batting first scored 246-9. Matt Gilmore (52) and Matt Williams (49) led the reply but Rayleigh were all out for 222 to lose by 24 runs.
The Sunday XI batted first against Mount and scored 267-4, with Ian Bryant (119) and Jason Ox (101) helping themselves to centuries. Mount were not daunted by this apparently large score and finished on 268-7 to win by 3 wickets.
In another high scoring game on Sunday the Women & Girls XI entertained Colchester Ladies who totalled 188-6 in a 35 over game, Rayleigh falling 12 runs short despite impressive innings by Kelly Castle (61) and Rebecca Holyoak (45).
