Three wins and two defeats for the Club\’s five league teams.

The 1st XI, missing 4 regular players, visited Bentley 2nd XI and batting first posted a disappointing 148 all out only Matt Williams (58) troubling the home team bowlers. Bentley passed this score for the loss of 4 wickets, Mike Law taking 3–35 off 10 overs.

The 2nd XI entertained newcomers to the league, Rainham, and batting first scored 235–5, Andy Impey (101*) scoring a maiden century and Matt Belcher 62. In reply Rainham were all out for 195, Adam Dudmish taking 4–49 and Matt Gilmore 3–61.

The 3rd XI travelled to Herongate 2nd XI, and batting first scored 248 all out, Tony Catling top scoring with 41. Herongate scored 186 all out in their innings, Tony Catling taking 3–60.

The 4th XI played Havering-atte-Bower 3rd XI and were involved in a last ball finish for the second week running but this time on the winning side. Rayleigh totalled 222–6, Simon Harwood (70) and Matt Walker (51) leading the scoring. Havering were all out for 220 on the last ball to give the 4th XI a welcome win.

The 5th XI played top of the table St Andrews and managed only 98–9 in their 45 overs against some hostile quick bowling. St Andrews passed this score for the loss of three wickets.

The Women & Girls XI entertained Great Waltam who batted first and scored 118–5. In reply Rayleigh totalled 83–7.

Friendles

The Saturday 6th XI entertained Stock 4th XI in a 40 ovrer game at Gloucester Park and batting first scored 147 all out, Alex James (32) top scoring 48. In a close finish, despite excellent bowling by David James, Matthew Dobson and Conor Slough, Stock won by 4 wickets thanks to Alex Walker\’s 85 not out.

South Essex District League

The Under 15Bs played Wickford Under 15s and batting first and scored 101–8, Hugh Kirby 35 not out. Wickford overtook this total in the 18th over with 5 wickets to spare. The Under 13As played Westcliff-on-Sea U13s, who batted first and scored 108–8. In reply Rayleigh scored 46–9. The Under 13Bs played Leigh U13Bs who batted first and scored 134–6. The U13Bs scored 104–4 in reply, Connor B retiring on 26*, Cameron G 25* . The Under 11As played Westcliff-on-Sea and lost by 14 run and the under 9s, also playing Westcliff in a friendly, won by 16 runs. The Under 11Bs played Leigh, batted first and scored 306 for 6, net 276. Leigh\’s reply was 272 for 7, net 237 so the Under 11Bs won by 39 runs.
