A bad day for the fourth week of the League season with all six Saturday League sides losing.
T Rippon Mid Essex Premier Division. The 1st XI travelled to Coxtie Green to play Bentley 1st XI who batted first and were bowled out for 215, Ian Turnbull taking 3-49 and Ian Bryant 2-38. The Rayleigh innings started well with Ben Francis (36) leading the way but another batting collapse saw the innings subside to an all out total of 137 and a 78 run defeat.
T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 2. The 2nd XI hosted Eastwood 1st XI on and batting first totalled 204-8, Andy Impey (50), Steven Lynch (47) and Toby Turner (45) leading the way. The bowlers reduced the visitors to 127-9, Graham Herbert (3-27) and a first victory of the season looked on the cards but an unbeaten tenth wicket stand of 78 took Eastwood to a one wicket win.
T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 5. The 3rd XI went to Eastwood to play their 2nd XI, who batted first and scored 219-6 in their 45 overs, Sam Verrinder taking 2-37 and Mike Law 2-53. Jack Nolde (54) and Sam Verrinder (33) led the reply but Rayleigh were bowled out for 191 to fall short of the target by 28 runs.
T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 6. The 4th XI entertained Chelmsford Super Kings 1st XI, who batting first were bowled out for 184, Callum Mayfield 3-33. In reply Rayleigh came agonisingly close with Simon Harwood (56) and Ray Hart (39) top scoring but the innings ended on 183-8 to lose by 1 run.
T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 9. The 5th XI hosted Hornchurch Athletic 3rd XI and batting first scored 150-7, Duncan Baldwin (31). The visitors passed this target without losing a wicket.
T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 10. The 6th XI visited Hornchurch Athletic 4th XI who batted first and scored 181-6, Jack Andrews 3-38. Rayleigh scored 160-8 to lose by 21 runs, Richard Verrinder (50).
Beaumont Seymour League. On Tuesday the Women and Girls XI visited Kelvedon Ladies who batted first and scored 68-4, Kelly Castle taking 2-2. In their innings Rayleigh scored 74-7, Kelly Castle retiring on 26.
In their Friday game they hosted Hutton who batted first and scored 156-2 in their 20 overs. Rayleigh scored 83-4 in reply, Louise Harmsworth (25*).
Friendly game. The 7th XI travelled to Chelmer Park to play a strong Chelmsford 6th XI, who batting first scored 253-4 in their 40 overs, Stanley Sanderson taking 2-32. Rayleigh scored 163-8, Mark Callaway (59*) and Andy Lynch (47 retired hurt) to lose by 90 runs.
