Good wins for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd XIs

Little Waltham were the visitors to Rawreth Lane to play the 1st XI and batting first were bowled out for 84, Ian Bryant taking 3–12 and Mike Walsh 3–32. Danny White 40* and Matt Williams 44 saw the 1st XI past this total for the loss of 1 wicket to keep alive the possibility of the Club’s first promotion to the top league in the Mid-Essex League.

The 2nd XI visited top of the table Old Chelmsfordian 2nd XI and bowled them out for 132, Richard Abley taking 4–35 and George Barker 4–48. We lost wickets regularly in reply, Steve Adams top scoring with 25, but managed to reach thetarget with the loss of 8 wickets, which should ensure our safety within Division 5.

The 3rd XI entertained Marconi at Purleigh and bowled them out for 105, Paul Davis taking 5–31. Adam Vyse 54* and Matt Belcher 30* steered the 3rd XI past the required total for the loss of 1 wicket to keep their hopes of promotion on course.

The 4th XI played Rayleigh Fairview 3rd XI at the Wickford Memorial Ground and batting first were bowled out for 97, only Brad Walker 27 troubling the bowlers. Fairview passed this total for the loss of 2 wickets.

The 5th XI’s game v Havering-atte-Bower 4th XI was conceded as the opposition were unable to raise a team.

Other matches

The 6th XI entertained Westcliff 4th XI at Gloucester Park and were put into bat and struggled to an all out total of 107, Nick Buckley top scoring with 33. Westcliff passed this total for the loss of 3 wickets.
