At last a better day for Rayleigh Cricket Club with five wins and one defeat for our Saturday League sides together some tight finishes,
T Rippon Mid Essex Premier Division. The 1st XI went to play Great Baddow 1st XI and batting first were reduced to 51-4 but a fifth wicket partnership of 101 between Dan Frost (54) and Jon Cook (47) enabled Rayleigh to finish on 208-8. This target looked too low as the home side were ahead of the required run rate at 78-1 but tight bowling from Ian Turnbull (3-49) and Richard Nolde (3-42) turned the game to the visitor’s favour and Baddow were bowled out for 177.
T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 2. The 2nd XI hosted Noak Hill Taverners 1st XI who batted first and amassed 293-8 with one batsmen scoring 166. Will Wheeler taking 3-47. In reply Mark Acraman (51) and George Barker (33) gave some respectability to the final total of 208-7.
T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 5. The 3rd XI travelled to top of the table Tillingham 2nd XI, who batted first and scored 117-9 in their 45 overs, David Hall taking 4-17 and Tom Osbourn 3-30. Sam Law (44) and Matt Verrinder (40) led the reply and passed the target for the loss of 6 wickets in the 36th over.
T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 6. The 4th XI entertained top of the table Boreham 1st XI, who batting first were bowled out for 154, Sam Skillett taking 3-19, Mihir Patel 3-28 and Sam Harmsworth 2-32. In reply Sam Harmsworth 40* and Phil Wolff (31) led Rayleigh to a 1 wicket victory in the 36th over.
T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 9. The 5th XI hosted Eastwood 3rd XI, who batted first scored 167-9, Glenn Coleman taking 4-39. Simon Lennox (45) and Steve Rothon (43*) steered Rayleigh towards the target and in a tight finish the winning runs were scored with three balls to spare.
T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 10. The 6th XI visited Basildon & Pitsea 3rd XI and batting first were bowled out for 151, Richard Verrinder (57*) and Dan Athol (29). In another close finish the home side were all out for 143, Joe Athol 3-16, Jack Andrews 3-54, Kuldeep Paik 2-20 and Jack Himpfen-Jones 2-22.
Beaumont Seymour League. In a game restricted to 12 overs a side, Rayleigh scored 63-4, Sophie lennox (28*). in reply, Great Waltham scored 64-3, Louise Harmsworth 2-8.
Under 15 South Essex District Cricket Board East Group. Hadleigh scored 129-1 in their 20 overs, Rayleigh 87-8, Senith Fernando 23.
