Report of week ending 7th June

Four wins and one defeat for the Saturday League sides and another good win for the Women & Girls XI.

The 1st XI entertained Rettendon 1st XI who batted first and scored 234 all out, Chris Frost taking 3-27. The Rayleigh reply never looked like overtaking this target and they collapsed to an all out total of 137 with only Chris Frost (41) troubling the bowlers.

The 2nd XI visited East Hanningfield 1st XI who batted first and were bowled out for 143, Trevor Nunn taking 4-29, Sree 3-32 and Mike Law 0-18 off 12 overs. At 64-7, it looked as though the 2nd XI would lose quite badly but an eighth wicket stand of 74 between Chris Eldridge (50) and Sree (29) enabled them to scrape home with the last pair at the wicket.

The 3rd XI fixture visited Writtle 2nd XI who batted first and scored 225-6, James Wratten taking 3-42. In another tight finish Rayleigh passed this score for the loss of nine wickets, Alex Jones (49) top scoring, with good support from Kalpesh Patel (44), Steve Adams (45).

The 4th XI were due to play Stock 3rd XI but Stock were unable to raise a side and forfeited the points.

Little Baddow 3rd XI were the visitors to the 5th XI who batted first and scored 186-7, Tony Catling (94*) leading the scoring. The visitors were bowled out for 140 with Gary Bush taking 4-51.

The 6th XI went to Chelmsford to play Galleywood 3rd XI. Asked to bat first the 6th XI scored slowly to start with against accurate bowling but accelerated to finish on 165 all out, Ian King (38) and Simon Lennox (36). Some excellent bowling by Jodie Billett (5-10), Conor Slough (3-6) and Neville Dunn (2-33) reduced the home side to all out total of 53 to give the 6s their first win of the season.

The 7th XI entertained Chalkwell Misfits and batting first scored 196-4 , Brad Walker (65*) and Matt Walker (48). The visitors passed this score for the loss of 4 wickets.

The Women & Girls XI visited Old Chelmsfordians and batting first scored 112-1, with Kelly Castle, Louise Hasworth and Rebecca Holyoak all retiring on 25 not out. The home side were restricted to 60-7 in their 20 overs to give Rayleigh victory by 52 runs.

Rankins Under15 XI scored 115-5 and in reply Rayleigh Under 15B were all out for 46.

Old Southendians Under 13B scored 86-8 in their 20 overs, Thomas Lopez taking 4-7 in his 4 overs. Rayleigh scored 76 all out, William Wheeler (21*) to lose by 10 runs.

Rayleigh Under 11A scored 343-3 net score 328, Old Southendians Under 11s 284-13 net score 219. Rayleigh won by 109 runs.

Rayleigh Under 11B scored 277-3 net score 262, SOSEMT Under 11B 297-5 net score 272. SOSEMT win by 10 runs.
