\”You may or may not be aware the Club has set up a Facebook account for the Club to get information out quickly and timely to our members and I would encourage you to register if you have not done so already. This should enable committee members to get information out to members by a medium which most people look at more regularly than the website or e-mails and should save us time in the long run.
The only concern was that the T Rippon League had issued very clear guidance that if any inflammatory material was put on a Club website or other social network, the individual could be banned from playing for several games and the Club fined. The league did in fact take action against a number of players and Clubs last year – from memory on eight occasions.
Accordingly the following message was put on the site:
\”Now a lot of you are aware we have a Facebook account please note that this is purely an information page to update members on what is happening. Please do not make any referrals about umpires, opposition players and our own players as the club can be heavily fined and individuals suspended to play by the league\”
The committee and I want this site to be available to adult and colt playing members and their parents – in other words to be a family friendly site to be read by anyone and to be an advertisement for the Club.
Unfortunately several of our members ignored this request within the first 24 hours. It started as a bit of fun but inevitably it got out of hand.
Please do not post any derogatory remarks on the site in future. Should someone make an unacceptable remark about you please do not lower yourself to their level but advise me and I will take appropriate action.
Brian\”
