2023 has been an excellent year for our colts section. Our numbers have recovered well following the reduction caused by the COVID pandemic and we have coaching sessions for five age groups rather than four previously. The season also saw a notable improvement in the playing standards of our young players. The principal reason for this is the excellent coaching they have received.
All this has meant a considerable extra workload for our coaches, so it is imperative that we recruit more coaches to continue to maintain the improvements next season.
If interested in volunteering to become a coach, you will receive training in modern coaching techniques paid for by the club on the understanding you will coach at the club after being trained. Alternatively, you may wish to offer help at coaching sessions without receiving the training. In both cases you need to be DBS checked.
There is no doubt you will gain great satisfaction in seeing the improvements in the young people you coach and quite often it can actually improve the way you play yourself.
Finally, it should not have escaped your notice that the club ran 18 outdoor sides and 1 indoor team this year together with continuing to improve the facilities at the club.
The management committee has had a busy year again and done a lot of work to continue to improve the facilities at the club but there is still more that can be done. The present committee members can cover most of the skills required but in some cases people are overloaded. Offers of help in any area of your expertise will be welcome. Examples are in the area of revenue and sponsorship generation, organisation of social events, management of the website but if you can spare the time to help the club in any way, it would be gratefully received.
