On Wednesday 16th July, Phil Hammond will be playing in a Charity T20 cricket match at Hadleigh & Thundersley CC in aid of Southend Samaritans. The teams will be made up of local Accountants vs. Lawyers and captained by none other than the deadly and legendry West Indian opening duo of Courtney & Curtley… slightly different to the bowling he is used to facing on a Saturday, even if they are the wrong side of 60.
Phil lost his best friend Wayne to suicide in November 2018 so charities like the Samaritans are essential for raising the profile of mental health awareness and suicide prevention. It’s a charity that is certainly close to home for him.
