2nd XI

The 2s welcomed Theydon Bois 1st team to Rawreth Lane. Captain Walker lost the toss and batted first. Rayleigh started strongly, with a 132-run partnership between Steven Lynch (75) and James Ellis (49). Matt Walker cemented a big total for Rayleigh, hitting 92* from only 60 balls, which included 10 fours and 3 sixes.

The opposition were set a total of 285. Theydon Bois were able to create partnerships throughout the innings, but tight bowling from Nick Green (7-0-37-3), Mihir Patel (9-1-32-2) and Cameron Mantle (8-0-46-2) ensured a win for Rayleigh, with Theydon finishing on 210 all out. RCC won by 75 runs.

3rd XI

The 3s travelled to Woodham Mortimer. Captain Gosling won the toss and batted first. Rayleigh started well, with a nice partnership between debutant Chris Henderson (56) and Simon Garms (32). John Wright hit a quick fire 58 from only 40 balls (including 9 fours and 2 sixes), supported by James Isherwood (27) who hit three sixes. RCC finished on 238-9 from their 45 overs.

In reply, Woodham made a good start with a couple of long-standing partnerships. Good bowling from Xavier Garms (7-1-32-3), Sam Levett (9-0-54-2) and Chris Henderson (8-1-52-2) restricted Woodham’s scoring and broke up partnerships. Unfortunately, despite a great effort from all Rayleigh players, Woodham Mortimer were able to pick off the final runs required in the 43rd over. RCC lost by 1 wicket.

4th XI

The 4s welcomed Rankins 2nd XI to the old ground at Rawreth Lane. Captain Peppiatt won the toss and decided to bat on good-looking wicket. Rayleigh started well but were slow to get going. An 80-run partnership between Brad Walker (36) and Steve Adams (42) helped increase the run rate into the 30th over. Despite these valuable contributions, wickets fell quickly with Rayleigh losing 4 wickets for 0 runs. Rayleigh finished on 140 all out from 38 overs.

Rankins started well and quickly, helping them to a 9-wicket victory in the 29th over. Zach Skillett picked up the only wicket of the innings (5-0-22-1), but all Rayleigh bowlers made good contributions against a batting attack that proved too much for the 4th team. RCC lost by 9 wickets.

5th XI

The 4s travelled to Burnham Sports Ground to play South Woodham Ferrers, in the battle of the bottom of the league. SWF won the toss and put Rayleigh in to bat. Valuable batting performances from Dave Turner (65), Kuldeep Paik (36) and Marc Smith (31) helped Rayleigh to a good total of 190-9 from 40 overs.

The oppositions innings never really got going, despite a handful of late order partnerships. Economical bowling from Marc Smith (7-1-13-3) and Duncan Bond (8-1-25-3) helped the 5th team to victory by 66 runs.

6th XI

The 6s welcomed East Hanningfield and Great Burstead 3s to Rawreth Lane. Captain Paul Cox won the toss and elected to field first.

Rayleigh took some quick wickets that restricted EHGB in the first 20 overs. A good 6th wicket partnership helped EHGB 207-6 from 40 overs. Charlie Jowers took two wickets (7-1-19-2), supported by Hassan Ahmad, Matthew Setters, Robin Peppiatt, and Steve Rothon who all took one wicket each.

In response, Rayleigh lost quick wickets which put them behind initially. Thanks to some good batting from Charlie Jowers (34) and Hassan Ahmad (30), Rayleigh were able to reach a respectable 146 all out in 36 overs. RCC lost by 61 runs.

7th XI

The 7s played a friendly fixture against Basildon and Pitsea 5th team. Rayleigh batted first and posted 75-9 from 40 overs. Yousuf Khan top scored with 14 and Brian Dawbarn (5*) recorded yet another not out for the club, batting through 10 overs with Owen Akers (5*).
