Report of week ending 22 August

Two wins and four defeats for the Saturday League teams.  With 14 regular players unavailable from the first three teams availability for the lower sides was poor once again.  However we did manage to field 6 sides this week.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 1.  The 1st XI travelled to Brookweald 1st XI, who had some impressive wins in recent weeks and batting first after losing an early wicket they scored quickly off the first 10 overs.  However Ian Bryant (5-30) and Sam Verrinder (4-21) reduced the home side to an all out total of 133.  Rayleigh cruised to a comfortable win with Jason Ox (47*), Ben Francis (36) and Any Impey (26*) leading the scoring.  This win means the 1st XI need 2 points from next week’s final league fixture to secure promotion to the Premier Division as runners-up.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 2. The 2nd XI entertained top of the table Rainham 1st XI, who batted first and totalled 185 -10, Danny Frost taking 4-35. Will Nolde (89) and Chris Frost (29) led the reply and Rayleigh passed their target in the penultimate over having lost 8 wickets.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 5. The 3rd XI went to play Galleywood 1st XI, and batting first were bowled out for 103, James Wratten (21) top scoring.  The hosts passed this target for the loss of 3 wickets.  This result leaves the 3rd XI in the relegation zone with next week’s fixture against top of the Division Rayne 1st XI.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 8. The 4th XI entertained high flying Wickham 1st XI and batting first totalled 193-8, Brad Walker (78) top scoring.  The visitors passed this score for the loss of 6 wickets, John Wright taking 3-43.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 10. The 5th XI hosted Havering Atte Bower 3rd XI in a game to decide who would almost certainly be relegated.  The 5th XI were bowled out for 85, which target the visitors knocked off for the loss of 1 wicket.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 12. A very inexperienced 6th XI travelled to Margaretting to play a similarly weakened Galleywood 3rd XI. Batting first Rayleigh were bowled out for 120 in the final over, Chris Slough (65) leading the scoring. Using a number of bowlers who had rarely bowled in a league match before, Rayleigh made the home side work hard for their win which they did eventually by 5 wickets.

South Essex District Cricket Board Under 13B East Division.  Rayleigh Fairview Under 13s 102-5. Aaron Unsworth 2-14 and Emilia Krise 1-13 each off 4 overs.  Rayleigh Under 13B Wyverns 61-8.   Rayleigh Fairview won by 41 runs.
