Report of week ending 24 August

Three wins and three defeats for the Saturday League sides.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 1. The 1st XI visited South Weald 1st XI and batting first scored 233 all out, Jon Cook (70) and Danny Frost (35*) top scoring. In reply South Weald scored 198-9, Matt Gilmore taking 4-38.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 3. The 2nd XI hosted neighbours Rayleigh Fairview 1st XI in a match to decide who would gain the second promotion place in the Division. The visitors batted first and scored 207-9, Adam Keeley taking 3-28 and Liam Druce 3-67. The 2nd XI fell short of the target by 42 runs, Adam Keeley scoring 60.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 5. The 3rd XI entertained Southend Echo Monarchs Trojans 1st XI and batting first scored 170, Kalpesh Patel (60*) top scoring. The visitors passed this total with ease losing only one wicket in their innings.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 8. The 4th XI travelled to bottom of the table Herongate 2nd XI and in a one sided game amassed 355-7, Brad Walker (63), Owen Davies (63) and Sam Law (41) leading the scoring from the bat with extras of 101 adding to the woes of the home side who were then bowled out for 115, Sam Levett taking 3-43 and John Wright 3-41.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 11. The 5th XI went to third placed South Woodham Ferrers 2nd XI in a potential promotion decider. Batting first, Rayleigh scored 245-3, Rob Wilson(89), Matt Verrinder (69*), Phil Wolff (38*) and Richard Verrinder (30) leading the scoring. The hosts were bowled out for 178, Sam Martin taking 3-37 and Max Jones 4-34. This win secures promotion and the 5th XI need 1 more point from the final game next week to be champions of their Division.

T Rippon Mid Essex League Division 12. The 6th XI played South Woodham Ferrers 3rd XI at Rawreth Lane. At one stage the visitors were 80-7 but an eighth wicket partnership rallied them to 167-8, Cameron MacDonald taking 3-26 and Jess Walker 3-43. Rayleigh struggled to score against tight accurate bowling and were bowled out for 118.
