Report of week ending 3rd August

Four wins and one defeat for the Saturday League sides and a semi-final place for the Under 11As.

The 1st XI had a day off as the opposition had pulled out of the League earlier in the year.

The 2nd XI visited Eastwood 1st XI and batting first scored 244-7, Jason Ox (92), Andy Impey (60), George Barker (35) and Sam Verrinder (28*) leading the scoring. The hosts were bowled out for 136, Trevor Nunn taking 4-32 and Sree 3-20.

The 3rd XI travelled to Havering-atte-Bower 2nd XI and and batting first scored 298-7, Richard Abley (70*) and Darren Smith (48) top scoring. Havering were bowled out for 176, Nick Green taking 4-32.

The 4th XI entertained Eastwood 2nd XI , who batting first scored 222-2. Phil Wolff (49*) and Brad Walker (28) led the reply but the innings closed on 155-7, to fall short by 67 runs.

Eastwood 4th XI were the visitors to the 5th XI, and batting first were bowled out for 109, Tony Catling taking 6-33. Conor Slough (50) led the reply and Rayleigh passed their target for the loss of 3 wickets.

The 6th XI visited Old Chelmsfordians 4th XI and bowled them out for 137, Sam Levett taking 4 wickets and Jodie Billett and Louise Harmsworth 2 each. Rayleigh passed this total for the loss of 2 wickets, Duncan Bond (50*) and Chris Grob (49*) leading the scoring.

The 7th XI entertained Ilford Catholics 4th XI who scored 215-3 off their 40 overs. The 7th XI never looked likely to chase down this target against accurate bowling but with Dave Turner (59*) batting throughout the innings closed on 138-8 to give the visitors victory by 77 runs.

South Essex District Cricket Board Under 13 League East Group. Rankins Under 13A batted first and scored 148-5 in their 20 overs, Elliot Ward taking 2-21. In reply Rayleigh Under 13A scored 71-7, William Wheeler retiring on 25 not out.

South Essex District Cricket Board Under 11 League East Group. Rayleigh Under 11A batted first and scored 275-4 net 255 in their 20 overs. Leigh Under 11 scored 241-6 net 211. This result means that Rayleigh advance to the semi-finals to be held at the end of the month.
