A disappointing set of results for the Saturday XIs with only the 2nd XI winning and the 1st XI dropping to the bottom of the Premier Division and the 5th XI remaining in a relegation position.
The 1st XI hosted fellow relegation candidates Old Chelmsfordians 1st XI and batting first scored 236-8, Danny White (100) and Jon Cook (64) top scoring. However an unbroken opening partnership of 120 for the visitors left the 1st XI with an uphill struggle to win the match but a batting collapse gave the home side hope but OCs came through to win by 2 wickets in the 40th over.
The 2nd XI visited Woodham Mortimer 1st XI and totalled 209-8, James Ellis (64) and Andy Impey (61) leading the scoring. In another tight finish Woodham fell short by 4 runs.
The 4th XI travelled to Terling 2nd XI and batting first scored 160-8, Phil Wolff scoring 34. The hosts passed this score for the loss of 6 wickets, Willie Leadbeater taking 3-34.
The 5th XI were away at St Andrews who batted first and were bowled out for 153. Some quality fast bowling supported by excellent catching reduced the 5th XI to 55-5 but they recovered to an all out score of 135 to lose by 18 runs.
The 6th XI hosted a strong Rayne 2nd XI who were asked to bat and knocked up 233-9, Sam Levett taking 4-45 and Phil Hammond 3-38. The 6th XI struggled to a total of 103 all out against a very useful bowling attack, Alan Brown (34) and Duncan Bond (23) top scoring.
Margaretting having withdrawn from the League a mixture of 3rd and 7th XI players played a friendly against Rettendon 2nd XI, who batted first and scored 232-4. In reply Rayleigh were bowled out for 214, Tom Chase (64), Darren Smith (41) and Sam Lowe (30).
