Report of the weekend of 27th May

A great Saturday for all 5 of the T Rippon league teams who won and the Women & Girls team who won on Friday evening.

The 1st XI entertained Stock 1st XI, who batting first scored 247 for 9, Ian Bryant taking 4-48. Rayleigh passed this total with the loss of 6 wickets with James Ellis top scoring with 63 supported by Jon Cook (42) and Marcus Cornish (44*).

The 2nd XI visited Little Baddow 2nd XI who scored 225 for 7, George Barker taking 3-43. In reply Rayleigh recovered from 91-7 to win by 2 wickets, Andy Impey patiently compiling 92* and sharing a 9th wicket partnership of 95 with Chris Frost 33*.

The 3rd XI were home to Rettendon 2nd XI. Rayleigh scored 152-9 with all batsmen scoring with the main scorers being Martin Sanderson (26), Adam Dudmish (24) and Paul Davies (24). Rettendon struggled and were dismissed for 98. John Stirk took 3-20 with most bowlers also taking wickets.

The 4th XI were at away to Sandon Sports 2nd XI, who won the toss and asked the 4\’s to bat. Rayleigh scored 175-9, with Richard Verrinder scoring 51*, Brad Walker 37. In a close finish Sandon were eventually all out for 164 in the last over to give the 3\’s a well fought win, Nathan Healey taking 4-12.

The 5th XI played away to Eastwood 4th XI who batted first and scored 210-8, David James taking 3-40. In reply the 5th XI started with a Lynch Senior (Andy – 130*) and Lynch Junior (Stephen – 39) opening partnership of 144. The 5\’s won by 7 wickets to record their first win of the season.

The Women & Girls XI entertained Maldon in a 20 over match and scored 130-1 in their overs. In reply the visitors scored just 56 to give Rayleigh a good win.

The 6th XI (Eagles) visited Blackshots in Grays in the midst of the Thurrock beer festival. Batting first, the Eagles soared to a steady 118-7 off 40 overs, a big improvement against the same opposition of last week. Rob Godfrey and Craig Smith each contributed 25. Thurrock\’s opener scored 77 easing his side to victory off 21 overs for the loss of three wickets. David Hall was the pick of the bowlers returning 2-31.

The 6th XI (Dragons) played away at Great Baddow 4th XI. Batting first, Great Baddow scored 206 with Steve Stirk taking 3-32. In reply the Dragons scored 90 with Dave Turner top scoring with 27.
